What’s trending: why fluting is far from being a fad in interior design

Fluting trend

Fluting is enjoying a renaissance and today, it’s everywhere you look, and I mean, everywhere – from ornate tiles, and tactile glass, to reeded islands, lighting, taps, butler sinks…

Popular in the late 1800s, then during the Art Deco era, and later seen in mid-century design, fluting has come back in style time and time again. And now, it is one of the most popular finishes in interiors, proving that if done right, it can stand the test of time.

In the past few years, this finish has slowly returned on our radar, and I particularly remember exploring Milan’s Eurocucina back in 2022, when my eyes were glued to textured glass cabinets. Apart from adding plenty of visual charm to your scheme, this design trick is also practical. Because the fluted pattern slightly blurs the contents behind the glass, it is especially helpful if you struggle to keep cupboards nice and organised.

So, if you are renovating your kitchen or thinking about a room refresh, why not consider this tactile finish? Click here to browse our inspiration gallery.
