What’s trending: interior design ideas to nail the staycation look

Why wait to go on vacation when you can bring that blissful holiday atmosphere and aesthetic to your interiors? Here is how, with a few clever design ideas, you can staycation in style in the comfort of your home…

Whenever I crave a getaway, I can always count on Mediterranean destinations. In fact, I am currently experiencing post-holiday blues – you know, the feeling of having to return to reality but wishing you were still on vacation – after spending a week on Spain’s Costa del Sol. And at the end of every trip, I look for little ways of bringing a piece of my travels home with me, whether that’s hand-crafted ceramics, spices and herbs, or filing design ideas I spotted abroad in my mental ‘dream house’ folder. And I’m not the only one, as farmhouse, Med-style kitchens and interiors have gained popularity over the last year.

Mediterranean kitchens are warm and welcoming, and have an effortless, lived-in feel. Picture toasty tones, tantalising texture, rustic materials, artisan crockery, and furniture passed down through generations. What’s not to love, right? So, if you, too, want to make your home feel like you’re on holiday year-round, draw inspiration from your travels for your next redesign.
