We take a close-up look at this home’s pretty and practical kitchen, and tour its bedrooms and bathrooms, all infused with an earthy palette and plenty of harmonious, organic elements…
“The design reflects the homeowners’ love of natural materials and bold colours,” says Greg Daulby, senior designer at Cor Domi, when talking about the kitchen of this peaceful home.
The owners, a couple who split their time between South Africa (their home country) and London, where their children study at university, decided to renovate their late Victorian property in Parsons Green soon after they bought it in 2023.

The plans
Their goal was to create a base for the whole family. And so, they enlisted Cor Domi to make the joinery and worktops for the kitchen-dining area, four bedrooms, and bathrooms – namely four bathrooms, one powder room, two shower rooms, and one master ensuite – as well as its sister company, Project London, for the renovation.
“The property was stripped back to brick and modernised throughout,” says Greg. “Each element was carefully integrated to balance functionality, ease of use, and the warmth of a lived-in family home.”

Project London replaced the former small kitchen extension with a longer, more spacious one. It incorporates a new side return and increased ceiling height. This way, they increased the space’s footprint, as well as creating a brighter and more open kitchen and dining area.
The kitchen renovation
“The kitchen is located at the rear of the property, designed to flow seamlessly from the main working area through to the dining and entertaining space,” explains Greg. “With limited outdoor space, we introduced large skylights and sliding doors to bring in as much natural light as possible, making the kitchen feel inviting, bright, and connected to the outdoors.”
Other key must-haves on the couple’s wishlist included gas cooking with a strong extraction, a top-tier coffee set-up, and an overall comfortable space, so that cooking, dining, and socialising would become as effortless as possible. “Working within the constraints typical of London terraced homes, we carefully planned the layout to create the feel of a large, family-friendly kitchen,” says Greg.

And it’s this exact attention to detail, along with Cor Domi’s ability to deliver a full, bespoke joinery package, that drew the couple to them in the first place.
“It allowed for a cohesive design across all rooms, ensuring consistent quality and craftsmanship. Plus, our seamless project management made the installation process smooth and stress-free, giving the homeowners confidence that every detail would be handled to the highest standard,” he adds.
Biophilic design
The theme of nature runs throughout the kitchen – dark timber joinery and lacquered green oak veneer create a rich, layered design that also serves as a backdrop to the couple’s collection of artworks. The Taj Mahal quartzite worktops introduce extra texture, while the herringbone flooring complements the organic-looking scheme.

The bathrooms
When it comes to the rest of the home, the bathrooms follow a similar ‘natural’ theme to the kitchen, with beautiful zellige wall tiles and joinery with a lived-in feel, all alluding to serene sanctuaries. “We had the chance to work with an amazing oyster-white quartzite, crafted into a 250mm-thick block to house the double sinks above the floating timber joinery,” says Greg.

“A lot of planning went into ensuring the stone’s weight could be safely supported. While it was slightly unnerving to watch it go into place, the result was spectacular. The sanitaryware and brassware were handled separately, but the cabinetry and stone really anchor the space.”

The bedrooms
This sense of harmony permeates the bedrooms, too, continuing the material palette used across the home, while the master bedroom makes a statement with a bold, colourful mural that beautifully contrasts the green headboard.

It’s no wonder the couple gave Cor Domi a glowing review. “We are very pleased with our final product,” they said. “Greg was a delight to work with and gladly incorporated our suggestions and noted our concerns. Our project was substantial – designing and installing a new kitchen, bathroom vanities, and bedroom cupboards – and we are glad we chose to go with Cor Domi.”
