Behind the scenes of Belgrave Villa Renovation KBB cover shoot

KBB x Belgravia

The latest episode of Belgrave Villa Renovation is now live on YouTube, and it shares ‘big news’ for Kitchens Bedrooms & Bathrooms magazine…

That’s right, we’re happy to share we’ve teamed up with bespoke kitchen company Olive & Barr and shot the beautiful kitchen of Belgrave Villa for our April cover.

“This is absolutely crazy, but our kitchen is going to be on the cover of a magazine,” announces Milly, the amazingly talented homeowner who has been renovating her seven-bedroom former Bishop’s Residence in South Wales.

She has been sharing her journey on social media, amassing 1.9M followers on Instagram and 431,000 subscribers on YouTube.

In their latest episode, titled ‘BIG news!!’ Milly reveals the photoshoot, and shares behind the scenes of getting ready for the day. “I can’t wait to see what they do with the place,” she says.

But first, Milly has to remove a flu which fell out the chimney, and complete the mammoth task of getting the dining table back into the kitchen – all with the help of Milly’s ‘cleaning machine’ Mum. Finally, the space was ready for myself to style.

Behind the scenes

I arrived with a trolley full of borrowed Marks & Spencers homeware and a gorgeous checkerboard tea pot from MacKenzie Childs (I’m obsessed, by the way), along with several salad vegetables and bread. The scene I imagined was a casual lunch set-up, seeing as the space is perfect for entertaining.

I also brought along a large pot plant. I knew something large like this would emphasise the scale of the kitchen, while the vibrant green would pop against the quartz and the burgundy cabinetry. The final touch, as I always need some form of flower arrangement in our shoots, was a bouquet of wild flowers. I felt they would suit Milly’s style (and thankfully she confirmed I got this right!)

Stay tuned to see the final April cover.

After we left for the day, I’m glad to see she enjoyed the food props we left behind (that seeded bread did look divine). “That was the nicest I’ve ever seen this place look; it’s just so nice to see it being used, because it’s been out of action for so long,” she said.

You can watch the whole episode below. And make sure to keep an eye out for the April issue of Kitchens Bedrooms and Bathrooms for the full interview with Milly, out at the beginning of March.
