With wellness bathrooms predicted to become even bigger in 2026, we explore how this trend is now having an impact on bedroom design…
I recently wrote about the rise of saunas and wellness at home, which is a result of people spending more time indoors than before. Whether we’re talking smart tech, such as baths with chromotherapy and sunshowers (yes, really), or achieving a zen scheme with the help of furnishings, homeowners are craving spaces that promote relaxation and everyday comfort. Now, the bedroom is receiving the same retreat-like treatment.
Over the years, hotels have served as inspiration for renovators looking to add a touch of luxury to their sleep space. However, in 2026, we’re turning to spas and resorts for bringing wellness not only into the bathroom, but the bedroom, too. Think calming, neutral paint, natural, organic materials, and greenery with restorative qualities.

But beyond aesthetics, the one key element that has the power to transform both the quality of your sleep and the look of your space is the bed. In fact, new sales research from independent bed and mattress retailer Land of Beds shows there’s a rising demand for king and super king beds, supportive hotel-style mattresses, and ultimately a desire to invest in sleep quality.
So, if you, too, are in the market for a new bed, there is plenty to take into consideration before you go ahead and swipe your card. From how to choose a mattress and a frame to deciding on the right pillows and bedding, click here to explore our complete guide first.

Also on my radar…
The bedroom is, for most of us, a sanctuary – a place where we can pause, unwind, and recharge. But according to the latest research, the bathroom is surprisingly becoming the UK’s unofficial safe space at home.
Georgina has looked into why this is and how you can add a little wellness into your design. Click here to find out more about bathroom camping.

What’s trending?
- Fresh pastels and nature’s touch – if you are tired of the cold weather, invite spring into your home early with pale pops of colour, terrazzo-effect tiles, and striking stone furniture.
- Fluted wood, from kitchen islands, bathroom vanities, to bedside tables, is one of the hottest design elements of the moment.
- Lounge in style and bring that hotel feeling into your bedroom with shearling rugs and slippers, sumptuous bed linen, charming rechargeable table lamps, and air purifiers.

Daring to go bold pays off – I love how interior designer Georgie Wykeham mixed cabinet colours, worktop materials and flooring in this farmhouse kitchen.
Honed limestone, antique brass, burgundy and sea foam blue, and luxurious velvet work together harmoniously here, resulting in a gorgeous spot for relaxing with a good book.
Draw inspiration from this serene bedroom and indulge in a bit of wellness this year. The peachy limewash walls, muted mustard bed and canopy, and elegant furnishings give this space a boutique hotel allure.
