Our May issue is out now! This month, we ask the experts if there’s a magic number behind the cost of your new bathroom, exploring the best ways to style with stone, baker’s table islands, and so much more…
I’ve been feeling the rejuvenating power of spring on the horizon. A sense of new beginnings, of fresh starts. Indeed, as my fingers taptaptap on the keyboard, the beautiful words of the late actor James Van Der Beek – which he shared with the public before he sadly passed this February – ring through my mind once again.
He suggested that New Year’s resolutions and celebrations shouldn’t be in winter – that, in fact, it makes much more sense for them to happen in spring, in line with nature’s natural rhythms. And now that I’m here, at the beginning of April, I couldn’t agree more.

The shadows of the darker months are behind us, and I feel in a much better place to think about my goals, aims, and wishes for the rest of the year: both personal and professional. This makes me wonder whether others, too, feel like this about their own resolutions for 2026. Specifically the renovators – because renovating in winter is tough. Especially when you have no heating, no electricity, and have to wait twice as long for plaster to dry.
It’s also hard to make decisions when feeling slightly morose – but with the longer days and warmer, spring weather in front of us, this can be the time to get excited about a project again. To gain some much-needed inspiration. If any of this resonates, then this issue will help to relaunch your enthusiasm. Or, indeed, ignite it altogether if you are new to the world of remodelling or interior tweaking.
