What’s trending: how to add a romantic touch to your interiors

Romantic interiors

With styles of the past, like Art Deco, Regency and Rococo, on the rise, I recently started noticing more interiors infused with warmth, glamour, and an overall alluring romantic feeling.

If you, too, are keen to get this look, know shapes are far from sharp and angular; they’re soft and curved. Frills and ruffles adorn soft furnishings, and rooms are drenched in palettes of calming pastels. Mixed in are dainty, playful florals, with materials such as lace adding a feminine touch. Vintage pieces like wood furniture, antique mirrors, and aged brassware will help you complete the look.

Also on my radar…

There’s one design detail I’ve been particularly drawn to in kitchen design, and that is the curve-cut splashback corner. Whether you opt for coloured marble, a dark surface, or tactile concrete, a decorative edge will inject plenty of charm and visual interest into your scheme, as seen in the characterful project below.

A grand marble splashback and custom-painted pink Aga take centre stage in this kitchen-diner designed by Tiffany Duggan, founder of Studio Duggan; the Bargello rug from Trove by Studio Duggan influenced the scheme of the whole house.

And since we’re on the topic of romantic interiors, Kate Moss’ bathroom is the epitome of glamour. Picture Art Deco style, blush pink marble, curved edges, warm brass fittings, and details reminiscent of Rococo style. • Bring the look and feel of your favourite restaurant to your kitchen or bathroom with the help of moody colourways, wall panelling, classic furniture, gleaming brassware, and sumptuous velvet materials.
  • From floating kitchen shelves, entryway trims, to tiled niches and accent breakfast nooks, marble is the stone of the moment, perfect for adding a dash of enduring luxury to your scheme.
  • Blush pinks, muted mauves, and jewel-toned reds are ideal for setting a romantic atmosphere in your interiors, whether it’s glossy tiles, paint, lighting fixtures, or décor.

This stunning kitchen design reminds me of a chic boutique café, with airy curtains, eye-catching cabinet doors, and stainless-steel work surfaces.

A small detail, but one which completely elevates the look of a simple kitchen splashback. If the budget allows, why not consider going the bespoke route for a design that’s unique to you and your home?

I love how the designer described this romantic bedroom – ‘a modern heirloom’. The antique pieces, floral wallpaper, and gold detailing create a glamorous, intimate backdrop for falling asleep in style.
