What’s trending: how wood finishes are dominating interiors

From grainy kitchen cabinetry to drenching entire rooms in this material, wood has dominated the interiors industry in 2025, and is showing no signs of going away anytime soon…

I remember wood kitchens coming back in style around 2022, and ever since, this interiors trend has only gotten bigger and better. Whether we’re talking classic grainy cabinet fronts, light blonde oak slab doors, or every timber tone in between, there is no debate that wood has a particular charm to it.

Pleasing to look at and touch, wood brings warmth into a space and helps create a connection to nature – something many homeowners have been craving after spending more time indoors. So, will 2026 be the year you embrace this look in your own kitchen? We’ve compiled a gallery with inspiring ideas – click here to see all you can achieve with this popular material.

Alongside wood cabinets, timber flooring and wall panelling are also rising in popularity… but why stop here? If you love this natural material, get inspired by the drenching decorating trend and saturate an entire room in wood.

This material suits both contemporary and classic interiors, and is particularly ideal for creating a calm, cocooning atmosphere. Pair it with other natural materials, such as rattan and linen, and shades like greens, blues and creams for a truly tranquil sanctuary. But if you prefer a dose of maximalism in your home, don’t shy away from bolder hues either – think dark walnut finishes mixed with rich burgundies and navy for a dark and dramatic scheme.

  • Take this as your sign to welcome a touch of wood into your scheme with the help of fluted panelling, mirrors, or herringbone flooring, which is currently stealing the spotlight in interior design.
  • Dark green and deep teal have an inviting, sophisticated allure. Add a small dash through an accent tap and glazed crockery or a bigger dose by painting walls and furniture or updating tiles.
  • Achieve an eclectic, homely look in your interiors with the help of intricate lighting, patterned rugs or pouffes, and quilted decorative cushions.

From the burgundy shower with tactile tiles, burnt terracotta walls, to the wood vanity unit topped with dark marble, this bathroom design oozes a luxury feeling.

Teal and burgundy is a timeless colour combination, reminiscent of boutique hotels. Add velvet furnishings to the mix and a layered lighting scheme, and you’ve got yourselves the cosiest sleep space.

Coloured marble is perfect for instantly upgrading your scheme – in this kitchen, the green, veiny stone stands out against the light wood cabinets.
