What’s trending: ways to make neutral interiors more interesting

Forget sterile white and millennial grey – neutral interiors have gone through a bit of a makeover. These days, designs encompass warm, earthy shades and are laden with texture, oozing a cosy feeling.

At the end of last year, neutral interiors have made a serious comeback through the ‘latte’ trend – picture kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms drenched in warm, soothing shades reminiscent of your morning coffee, such as caramel taupes and creamy browns, with sumptuous textures and eye-catching finishes.

Plain and pared-back neutral interiors have evolved into layered schemes, no longer one-dimensional, from the colours used throughout the design to the carefully curated materials.

So, if you’re redoing one of your rooms from scratch and love cosy, bright spaces, why not embrace blond wood or off-white furniture, tactile surfaces, warm brassware, and neutral furnishings? Click here for more tips on getting this look right.

As I’ve highlighted, gone are the days of boring neutral interiors. In your bedroom, for example, you can now embrace lots of shades on the spectrum – think blush pinks, pale blues, and earthy greens. Georgina, surprised by this shift, has asked five experts to share how they’ve used creamy tones to create these beautiful, interesting designs. Also on my radar…

When it comes to bathrooms, although spa-like design is nothing new, we’ve noticed it has been taken one step further in 2025. Complete with a calm, neutral colour palette, Japandi-inspired elements such as wood baths, heated towel rails, natural materials, atmospheric lighting and intuitive shower heads, this trend is reminiscent of a serene wellness oasis. And who wouldn’t love to have this in the comfort of their own homes, right?

Check out this inspiration gallery and indulge in that tranquil feeling any time you desire.

  • Biophilic design is on the rise, so draw inspiration from nature, whether it’s a charming wallpaper pattern, wood lighting, or simply the colour palette for a calm, grounding atmosphere in your interiors.
  • The cosy season calls for faux fur furnishings – retreat on the sofa at the end of a rainy day with a decadent hot chocolate, chunky throw, and a couple of ultra-soft cushions.
  • From cream-coloured, glazed ceramics and milky paint, to bouclé seating and charming wood-burning stoves, create a dreamy environment with the help of neutral shades.

Here at KBB, we love a before-and-after transformation. By tweaking the old layout, the designer achieved a safe and stylish space with a grand island, perfect for the family to gather around.

From the timeless three-tone floor tiles, double shower and wood vanity unit, to the freestanding tub and gold brass detailing, this elegant bathroom design oozes charm and sophistication.

My interiors motto is ‘the more cushions, the better’. Mix and match shapes, sizes, materials, colours and patterns for a truly layered look that’s unique to you.
